Seodaemun-gu Promotes Consulting for 'Dong Integrated Case Management Activation'

Goal to Enhance Residents' Welfare Perception through Activation of Case Management at Dong Resident Centers

Seodaemun-gu Promotes Consulting for 'Dong Integrated Case Management Activation'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is promoting consulting to implement and activate integrated case management at the neighborhood level in the field.

'Integrated case management' refers to helping households in crisis become self-reliant by linking and providing customized services such as welfare, health, employment, housing, and education.

Earlier, since August last year, the district has been conducting the first year of the 'Public-Private Cooperation Integrated Case Management Activation' consulting process together with Seoul City, reorganizing the integrated case management operation system among autonomous districts, neighborhood community centers, and private organizations.

Through this, the need for an operation manual for case management regarding the setting of roles and authority between public and private sectors was identified.

This year, the process will proceed with ▲ plan establishment by public-private agreement ▲ neighborhood integrated case management activation workshops ▲ application of neighborhood integrated case management execution plans ▲ district-level performance sharing meetings ▲ and establishment of mid- to long-term case management promotion plans.

The 'Seoul City Consulting Team' for the second year process is led by Professor Lee Ki-yeon of Sogang University and consists of field experts from Seoul City's case management private welfare organizations, facilitators (discussion assistants), and members of Seoul City's Chat-dong Promotion Support Team.

The 'Seodaemun-gu Promotion Team' is composed of 17 members, including officials from seven private organizations such as the Comprehensive Welfare Center, Mental Health Welfare Center, and Dementia Support Center; welfare planners and resident welfare team leaders from five neighborhood community centers; welfare resource team leaders and officers from the district office's Welfare Policy Division; and integrated case managers.

Im Ok-ja, director of the Seodaemun Community Social Security Council and a member of the Seodaemun-gu Promotion Team, said, "We will do our best to participate so that the vivid opinions of public and private institutions can be reflected to activate 'neighborhood-level case management' that finds, embraces, and supports integrated customized welfare services for households in crisis."

Seodaemun-gu, which won the 'Grand Prize' for three consecutive years in the 'Public-Private Cooperation and Resource Linkage' category of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's regional welfare project evaluation at the end of last year, aims to provide more efficient customized services to residents with diverse welfare needs through this consulting.

Moon Seok-jin, mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "We expect that the 'completion of the public-private case management linkage system' through two years of consulting and the 'strengthening of the role of neighborhood community centers, the frontline welfare institutions' will increase residents' perception of welfare."
