[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association announced on the 18th that it has decided to sign a business agreement with the Broadcasting Content Promotion Foundation to revitalize the local community broadcasting content industry.

According to this agreement, the two organizations will promote mutual cooperation to discover and publicize valuable local stories. They will pursue ▲ collaboration in content production between individual broadcasters and cable TV by region ▲ scheduling of excellent individual broadcasting content ▲ development of business models for local community development and content industry revitalization ▲ and mutual cooperation in overall promotional areas.

The Broadcasting Content Promotion Foundation is promoting the content production support project "Bangbanggotgok" to support content production for local communities and small business promotion together with local individual media. Local broadcasters, cable TV, have also participated in the project since last year by scheduling selected and award-winning productions on local channels.

With this agreement, local cable TVs nationwide will play a role in promoting content by expanding local channel programming. They will also take the lead in local community development by producing locally focused content such as traditional markets, tourism, and festivals to revitalize the local economy, and by discovering public, public interest, and local-based collaborative business models.

Lee Rae-woon, chairman of the Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association, said, "The strength of cable's locality will meet individual broadcasting to create a new content production paradigm," and added, "I hope local content will serve as a catalyst for local community development."

Jung Sang-mo, chairman of the Broadcasting Content Promotion Foundation, said, "It is important to schedule channels that can spread valuable local content nationwide," and added, "We will take the lead in discovering local content through this agreement."
