Contributing to Taxpayer Convenience by Providing Safe and Fast Tax Administration Services in the Non-Face-to-Face Era... Added 'Gwanakgu Local Tax Refund' Channel on KakaoTalk for Applications via 1:1 Chat Room

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has launched the ‘KakaoTalk Local Tax Refund Application Service’ in May, allowing residents to easily apply for local tax refunds using KakaoTalk.

The district announced that it added the KakaoTalk refund application method to provide safe and convenient tax administration services to residents in line with the non-face-to-face era caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

This enables 24-hour refund applications, enhancing taxpayer convenience and is expected to reduce the amount of small unclaimed refunds that have received little attention.

To apply, refund recipients who have received a refund notice can search for ‘Gwanak-gu Local Tax Refund’ on the KakaoTalk app, add the channel, and then enter the refund number, name and contact information, bank name of the refund recipient, and account number in the 1:1 chat room.

The refund payment will be promptly processed within 2-3 days (bank business days) after the staff verifies the information.

Other methods to apply for local tax refunds include the internet (ETAX, WETAX), smartphone apps (S-TAX), phone, fax, and donations through the Community Chest of Korea are also possible.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Through the KakaoTalk refund application service, we expect to contribute to reducing small unclaimed refunds by processing local tax refunds conveniently and quickly,” adding, “We will continue to provide various services suitable for the smart era to protect taxpayers’ rights and improve convenience, striving to deliver trusted tax administration.”
