Intoxicated by the Acacia Scent on the 21km Songpa Dullegil Trail

Songpa-gu Recommends 'Top 3 Scenic Spots of Songpa Dullegil Acacia Blossoms' in May Following the 8 Cherry Blossom Views

Intoxicated by the Acacia Scent on the 21km Songpa Dullegil Trail Mongchon 2 Pump Station to Seongnae Bridge, approximately 270m section

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The scent of acacia is sweet. At the end of spring in May, the Songpa Dullegil, fragrant with acacia blossoms, entices spring visitors with a spectacular view of fully bloomed acacia trees.

Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) introduces the 'Top 3 Scenic Spots of Acacia Blossoms on Songpa Dullegil' following last month's feature on the 'Songpa Dullegil Cherry Blossom 8 Views.'

Having established itself as a cherry blossom hotspot, Songpa Dullegil is now filled with the fragrance of acacia. Acacia flowers bloom from late April to early May. Currently, the acacia trees along Songpa Dullegil are in full bloom, forming white fluffy clouds and harmonizing with the greenery of the trail to create a picturesque scene.

There are three notable spots along Songpa Dullegil where visitors can immerse themselves in the scent of acacia flowers.

First, the 200-meter section from ▲Songpa Women's Football Stadium to Olympic Park North Gate 1. About 50 naturally growing acacia trees display their fragrance and beauty. Although the embankment near Olympic Park has smaller acacia trees, it is expected to become a magnificent sight within a few years. Between the acacia trees, wild roses, Korean wild radish, and red clover grow together, offering a variety of colors.

Also, last year, the mesh fence at Songpa Women's Football Stadium was removed, and through community donations, 80 king cherry trees were planted. Among them, the tricolor birches are also worth seeing. Protective frames have been installed on the slopes, ensuring that not a single tree has died and all are growing well. Tags hanging on the king cherry trees carry the wishes of families.

The second spot is the approximately 270-meter section from ▲Mongchon 2 Pump Station to Seongnae Bridge. Along Seongnae Stream, behind the cherry trees on the embankments near Asan Hospital and Parkrio, the scent of naturally growing acacia is strong.

The third spot is the 560-meter section from ▲Cheongnyong Bridge to the Korea National Sport University dormitory. The dense acacia trees, tall enough to obscure the university's fence, blend with surrounding white popinac trees and rapeseed flowers, evoking a rural landscape. This section also features various wildflowers including golden trumpet flowers and a photo zone, allowing visitors to enjoy the diverse spring atmosphere of Songpa Dullegil.

Songpa Dullegil is a 21-kilometer circular walking tour route connecting four streams flowing along the outskirts of Songpa-gu (Seongnae Stream, Jangji Stream, Tancheon, and the Han River). It is a harmonious space combining nature, waterfront areas, and ecological streams. When the fully bloomed acacia flowers scatter in the wind like snow along Songpa Dullegil, summer officially begins, followed by the beautiful blooming of wild roses.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Songpa Dullegil is a healing space in the city where you can experience all four seasons with cherry blossoms, forsythia, acacia, wild roses, white popinac, zinnia, and winter snow flowers. When the Tancheon path construction is completed this June, the circular Dullegil will be complete, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful natural ecological scenery, water reflections, birds, acacia, and forsythia along Tancheon.”
