According to Gyeongju city on the 16th, 11 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the Gyeongju area just in the morning. Among them, 5 were employees of Homeplus Gyeongju branch (4 from the food department, 1 from the electronics corner). On the previous day, the 15th, one employee from the meat corner at Homeplus was confirmed positive.
Accordingly, Gyeongju city conducted tests on 106 Homeplus employees on the 15th as the first round, and on 84 employees on the 16th. In addition, citizens who visited Homeplus Gyeongju branch from the 3rd to the 15th are being encouraged via text messages to get tested at screening clinics.
Deputy Mayor Kim Hojin emphasized in an emergency briefing that day, "It is regrettable that multiple confirmed cases have occurred despite our full efforts to prevent the spread of community infection," and added, "We will do our best to promptly end the cluster infection that occurred in the large supermarket."
