[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A rally was held to commemorate Son Jeong-min (22), who went missing and was found dead at Seoul Hangang Park. Citizens urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation.

On the 16th, about 200 citizens attended the rally near the Banpo Hangang Park water taxi dock, holding placards with phrases such as "Reveal the truth behind Jeong-min's death" and "Demand a swift, fair, and accurate investigation," shouting slogans like "Uncover the truth" and "Do not fabricate evidence."

However, an announcement was made through the park's speakers stating that gatherings of five or more people are prohibited within Hangang Park, but social distancing was not observed.

Additionally, some of the citizens participating in the rally left the park and began marching toward the sidewalk. The police blocked them, calling it an "unauthorized illegal march," but the march continued. The citizens stopped in front of the sidewalk outside Seocho Police Station, which was in charge of investigating Son's case, and chanted slogans demanding the truth be revealed.

Son went missing after drinking with his friend A near the Banpo Hangang Park water taxi dock from around 11 p.m. on the 24th of last month until about 2 a.m. the next day. He was found dead underwater in the Hangang River not far from the disappearance site on the 30th of last month. The autopsy results suggested that the cause of death was drowning.
