Incheon City to Train Cruise Tourism Service Personnel... Online Education Until August

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City and Incheon Tourism Organization announced on the 16th that they will operate a cruise tourism service workforce training program to revitalize the cruise industry and cultivate experts in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era.

This project, which has been promoted since 2019 targeting graduates of tourism-related departments, expanded its recruitment target this year to include job seekers and travel agency workers on leave due to COVID-19, selecting a total of 51 participants.

The training program consists of basic vocational education in the cruise field, practical training in cruise tourism services, and group intensive mentoring, and will be conducted online remotely until August 29. The training is completely free of charge.

Upon completion of the training, a certificate will be issued, and outstanding trainees will be selected to receive opportunities for onboard cruise practical training.

An official from Incheon City stated, "Considering the sold-out cases of cruise products departing in 2022 and 2023 from major foreign cruise lines, it is expected that the cruise industry will continue rapid growth after the end of COVID-19," adding, "The cultivation of specialized cruise tourism personnel is an opportunity to create quality jobs and will contribute to the resumption of cruise calls at Incheon Port and the revitalization of the cruise industry."
