Gangbuk-gu Holds Non-Face-to-Face 'Gangbuk Family Writing Contest'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) will hold the "14th Gangbuk Family Writing Contest" on June 26, recruiting 200 participants from elementary school students nationwide.

The district organized this contest to realize "Reading Gangbuk," a habit of reading in daily life.

The contest will be conducted online in real-time.

Participants must connect to the video conferencing platform from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the day of the contest and submit handwritten works on the given topic within the designated time.

Students in grades 1 to 3 should write within one A4 page, and students in grades 4 to 6 should write within two A4 pages.

To ensure fairness in the online contest, the district plans to announce the "topic" and "mandatory words" to be included in the writing on the day of the contest. Participants are required to stay connected during the contest, and the contest proceedings will be recorded to verify any cheating before selecting winners.

There will be a total of 30 winners: 3 Grand Prize winners, 6 Gold Prize winners, 9 Silver Prize winners, and 12 Bronze Prize winners.

Winners will receive certificates and a published collection of the submitted works. The district will allocate awards according to the proportion of participants by grade.

The results will be announced on July 5 on the Gangbuk-gu website and individual notifications will be sent via text message.

Any elementary school student can participate. Children who wish to participate can register from May 17 to June 16 through the "Seoul Metropolitan Public Service Reservation" website.

Mayor Park Kyum-soo of Gangbuk-gu said, "Through this contest, I hope children awaken their interest in reading and writing and communicate with the wider world," adding, "We will support various reading culture programs so that children can read books and freely express their imagination and talents."
