LGU+ 'XR Alliance' Welcomes US Trigger... Unveils Space VR Content LG Uplus officials enjoying new content of U+VR in a studio with space as the background.

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 16th that it will unveil the new virtual reality (VR) content "Space Explorers: The ISS Experience" Episode 2 and the addition of the 11th member, the AR company "Trigger Global," to the global 5G content alliance "XR Alliance (Global XR Content Telco Alliance)," for which it serves as the chair company.

"Space Explorers: The ISS Experience" is the first 3D 360-degree VR content filmed in actual space. In the newly released Episode 2, users can find out who the first female astronaut was, whether it is possible to cultivate plants on a spacecraft, and whether heat can be felt at the International Space Station (ISS), which is 150 million kilometers away from the sun. This content is available for free through the U+VR app, and can be enjoyed on a mobile screen even without a VR headset (HMD).

News of the new member company was also announced. The newly joined U.S.-based AR company Trigger has presented over 200 projects in the past decade and possesses more than 200,000 hours of XR development experience. Globally recognized titles such as "Toy Story," "Spider-Man," and "Star Wars" are representative examples. They have also collaborated with diverse media companies such as Disney, Pixar, and Sony Pictures to provide immersive services. Additionally, they developed the AR app for Verizon, the largest mobile carrier in the U.S.

With Trigger's addition, the XR Alliance solidifies its position as the world's largest 5G content alliance, comprising 11 operators across 7 regions. In particular, LG Uplus explained that it is highly significant that a strong AR company has joined the existing members who have excelled in the VR domain. It is expected to promote balanced growth in the XR industry by showcasing VR and AR content, represented by the "metaverse."

Choi Yoonho, Executive Director of XR Services at LG Uplus, said, "We are pleased to continuously present blockbuster content that can only be released through the XR Alliance," adding, "We will continue to pursue both quantitative and qualitative growth of XR content to increase viewing options for customers and maintain cooperation with various companies to foster the XR ecosystem."
