[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Eunbyeol] After more than 20 days, new COVID-19 cases due to community transmission have been reported in China.
The Anhui Provincial Health Commission (Weiguanwei) and others announced on the 14th that three confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported on the 13th and 14th in Hefei (合肥) and Lu'an (六安). Among the confirmed cases, one person traveled from Liaoning Province to Anhui Province by air on the 1st and was found to have visited five cities in three provinces within the last 18 days.
The authorities raised the alert level by designating three residential and commercial areas in Hefei and Lu'an as medium-risk COVID-19 zones and canceled large-scale events such as exhibitions. Since the incubation period coincided with the Labor Day holiday, which involved large-scale population movement, the authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance regarding this COVID-19 outbreak.
Residents across China, including Huangshan City in Anhui Province, have been instructed to report if they have visited medium-risk COVID-19 areas since the 1st. The authorities in Dandong (丹東), Liaoning Province, which borders North Korea, have also announced similar measures for their residents.
