Seoul Scholarship Foundation and Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation Provide Scholarships to 100 Children of Low-Income Small Business Owners

One Application Per Household for Middle, High School, and University Students from Low-Income Small Business Families Living in Seoul
Applications Accepted at Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation Self-Employment Support Center Until the 18th of Next Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Scholarship Foundation announced on the 16th that it is recruiting scholarship students who are children of small business owners facing economic difficulties such as decreased sales and business closures, in cooperation with the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation.

The application period for the Small Business Owners' Stepping Stone Scholarship, which provides an annual scholarship of 1 million won, is from the 17th to June 18. Eligible applicants are middle, high school, and university students who are children of low-income small business owner families residing in Seoul and using the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation's services, with only one applicant allowed per household.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government hopes that this scholarship support will provide a small help to families of small business owners struggling due to COVID-19. Scholarship applications can be submitted by mail or in person to the Self-Employment Support Center of the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation. The selection results are scheduled to be announced at the end of July.

Since 2019, the Small Business Owners' Stepping Stone Scholarship has provided a total of 250 recipients with scholarships amounting to 250 million won to help children of small business owners maintain their studies amid their parents' economic crises.

Lee Dae-hyun, Acting Chairman, said, “We hope this will be a practical help to small business owner families exhausted both physically and mentally due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We will continue to strive to guarantee stable educational opportunities for children of small business owner families.”
