Jae-yoon Ma, Head of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, Visits Staff Experiencing Adverse Symptoms After Vaccination

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Ma Jaeyoon, head of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, visited and comforted an employee showing adverse symptoms after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 14th, paramedic A from Naju Fire Station, who received the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 12 as a social essential worker, was hospitalized for treatment due to high fever, headache, and muscle fasciculation symptoms after vaccination and was diagnosed with 'acute transverse myelitis.'

The employee is currently undergoing self-treatment and continues to suffer from headaches and muscle contractions.

The fire authorities are making efforts to ensure the paramedic's full recovery and to have the condition recognized as a work-related injury caused by vaccine side effects. The epidemiological investigation schedule by the Jeonnam provincial health authorities has been confirmed for the 21st.

Upon hearing the unfortunate news, Jeonnam fire employees also continued fundraising activities through the workplace council.

Director Ma said, "You are not alone. All Jeonnam firefighters stand with the paramedic, so please live positively with hope that you will definitely recover." He added, "Even in cases where proving causality is difficult, we will seek compensation measures and do our best to provide continuous attention and all possible support."

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Fire completed the first dose of AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccination for 879 affiliated employees, starting with paramedics on March 8.
