Gwangju Bank and Gwangju Shinsegae Each Donate 20 Million Won
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Janghak Foundation of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Yoon Poongsik) has received a series of scholarship fund donations to support underprivileged students in the region and to support and nurture outstanding talents.
According to Seo-gu on the 14th, Song Jongwook, president of Gwangju Bank, donated 20 million KRW in scholarships to the foundation on that day.
Since 2016, Gwangju Bank has been leading the culture of donation to nurture future talents in the region by sponsoring a total of 80 million KRW in scholarships so far.
Earlier, on the 30th of last month, Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Donghoon), which has been donating scholarships since 2016, generously contributed 20 million KRW in scholarships.
The total amount of scholarships donated by Gwangju Shinsegae has reached 120 million KRW to date.
Gwangju Bank and Gwangju Shinsegae expressed that they feel very honored to be able to contribute even a little to nurturing talents in our region.
A representative of the Seo-gu Janghak Foundation said, "We thank everyone who has sent donations to the scholarship foundation despite difficult conditions such as COVID-19," and added, "We will do our best to discover, support, and nurture local talents who will lead the future through the scholarship foundation, so that it leads to regional development."
Meanwhile, since its establishment in October 2015, the Seo-gu Janghak Foundation has raised 4.9 billion KRW in funds and has been selecting scholarship students annually since 2016. It has provided scholarships totaling over 480 million KRW to 480 students.
