[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Kyung-taek] A woman in her 30s who fell from Dolsan Bridge in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do was rescued by the Yeosu Coast Guard.
The Yeosu Coast Guard Station announced on the 14th, "We rescued Ms. A (female, in her 30s) who was drifting at sea in front of the Marine Park in Jungang-dong, Yeosu."
According to the Yeosu Coast Guard, at 11:02 p.m. on the 13th, a passerby crossing Dolsan Bridge reported that a woman was sitting on the railing in the middle of the bridge, and the police substation patrol rescue team and the coast guard rescue team were dispatched to the scene.
While en route, the Yeosu Coast Guard received additional information from the reporter that Ms. A had fallen into the sea, and using the seawater flow system, they predicted she was drifting toward Janggun-do and focused their search in that direction.
Park Seon-gyu, a trainee at the Korea Maritime Police Training Institute who was taking a walk near the Marine Park, heard cries for help from the nearby sea, found the drowning person, and jumped in bare-handed, swimming about 100 meters in the sea.
At that time, the rescue team searching the nearby sea discovered Ms. A drifting at sea and, together with the trainee, safely rescued her.
The rescued Ms. A was conscious and breathing normally but complained of hypothermia, so she was handed over to the 119 emergency medical team and transported to Yeosu Jeonnam Hospital.
The maritime police trainee said, "I just did what was natural, and I will continue to devote myself to becoming a maritime police officer who protects the precious lives of the people and promotes safety."
