[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A story has sparked public outrage after a car owner in Daejeon was verbally abused when asking the owner of a double-parked Mercedes-Benz vehicle in an apartment underground parking lot to move their car. The Mercedes-Benz owner reportedly said things like "Ajumma, you’re really tacky" and "I will find your house and kill all your kids."

On the 13th, an online community called 'Bobaedream' posted a thread titled 'Mercedes-Benz Woman Crossing the Line at an Apartment in Daejeon.' A, who identified themselves as a resident of an apartment in Seo-gu, Daejeon, shared, "Yesterday (the 12th), my mother asked a fellow resident to move their car, but was threatened with 'I will find your house and kill all your kids.'"

A explained, "(Our apartment) has limited parking spaces, so double parking is unavoidable," adding, "My mother went to the underground parking lot in the morning to leave for work and tried to push the Mercedes-Benz in front of her Sonata backward to get her car out, but the car wouldn’t move."

He continued, "Because of the Mercedes-Benz, five cars couldn’t move. I contacted the Mercedes-Benz owner and asked, 'It seems your car is blocking the side; could you please move it a bit?'" He said, "The owner replied, 'Okay, I’ll come down,' so we waited. But even after more than 10 minutes, they didn’t come out."

A said, "When I called again, the owner ignored several calls and then got annoyed, saying, 'If I move it, won’t that be enough? Seriously.'" He added, "My mother heard that and, out of frustration, said something back, and the owner responded with 'Tell me where you live so I can find and kill all your kids.'"

A also released a recorded phone conversation between his mother and the Mercedes-Benz owner. In the recording, the Mercedes-Benz owner said, "Tell your ajumma. Don’t you have a housekeeper?" and "My housekeeper works here, so call her and wait. Don’t you have a working ajumma?"

In response, A’s mother said, "Why bring up a housekeeper here? Didn’t I politely ask you to move your car?" The owner replied, "Ajumma, you’re really tacky. Unbelievable."

The Mercedes-Benz owner did not hesitate to use profanity. He said, "You f***ing b****. It’s your fault for marrying the wrong husband," and "This is a working-class apartment, you know. You probably worked hard to buy this apartment. You’re a bunch of trash. Unbelievable. You f***ers. Acting crazy just because the apartment costs a few bucks," verbally abusing her. A’s mother retorted, "You parked your car like that."

The owner also said, "That’s why you drive a Sonata," and "People like you working-class folks have an inferiority complex."

Regarding this, A said, "When I listened to the recording, it seemed like the owner was drunk," adding, "I don’t know how to get an apology from the owner. I want to see their face and get a polite apology, but I’m scared because they threatened to kill us."

Furthermore, A said, "After work, I went to the management office and explained the morning’s situation, requesting to speak with the owner via intercom," adding, "They clearly told me to come, but then hung up saying 'I’m not coming out,' and even when I went to their house, they didn’t come out."

He continued, "If they were drunk, I was willing to accept a polite apology and resolve this amicably, but since they keep threatening and avoiding me, I feel uneasy and scared."

Meanwhile, netizens who read the story reacted with comments such as, "How can someone use such abusive language just because they were asked to move their car?", "What’s the point of driving a nice car? Pathetic," "Is driving a Mercedes-Benz a status symbol?", "Why does someone who drives a Mercedes-Benz live in a working-class apartment?", and "The tone sounds like they were drunk."
