Sponsored by Korea Water Resources Corporation Yeosu Branch, Participation of Jinsangmyeon Youth Association
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Jinsang-myeon, Gwangyang-si, Jeollanam-do, installed convenience facilities such as toilet safety bars and anti-slip mats in 32 single elderly households over three days from the 11th to the 13th, and provided adult walkers. The delivery event was held in front of the Jinsang-myeon office on the 13th, the office announced on the 14th.
The support project was sponsored by the Korea Water Resources Corporation Yeosu Branch with about 10 million won, and about 10 members of the Jinsang-myeon Youth Association participated.
The Korea Water Resources Corporation Yeosu Branch has supported senior citizen consolation parties through the Jinsang-myeon Youth Association every Parents' Day, but due to the cancellation of the event caused by COVID-19, they planned support for single elderly people.
The target households for support were single elderly households receiving customized elderly care services in Jinsang-myeon, selected based on recommendations from life support workers.
The Korea Water Resources Corporation and the Jinsang-myeon Youth Association installed toilet safety grab bars and anti-slip mats in the households to reduce the risk of falls and improve convenience, and provided one adult walker per household free of charge to assist elderly people with mobility difficulties.
An elderly person who received support said, “I was always worried about falling in the slippery bathroom, but now that sturdy safety grab bars are installed, I feel safe using the bathroom,” and added, “I am grateful for this support.”
A representative of the Korea Water Resources Corporation Yeosu Branch stated, “This support was aimed at ensuring the safety of elderly people who spend more time at home due to COVID-19, and was promoted to prevent frequent fall accidents among elderly people with mobility difficulties and to create a safe living environment.”
Kim Mi-ran, head of Jinsang-myeon, said, “I express my gratitude to everyone who practiced sharing for vulnerable groups amid the COVID-19 situation,” and added, “We will continue to care for neighbors with difficulties in daily life and will not hesitate to provide support to resolve their inconveniences.”
