Dongseo University Department of Tourism Presents Basic Plan at 'Southeast Region Metropolitan Tourism Service' Report Meeting The final report meeting for the project "Establishment of Measures to Revitalize Metropolitan Tourism in the Southeastern Region," conducted by the Department of Tourism at Dongseo University, was held on the afternoon of the 12th at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The final report meeting for the project "Establishment of a Plan to Revitalize Metropolitan Tourism in the Southeastern Region," conducted by the Department of Tourism at Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk), was held on the afternoon of the 12th at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center (UECO).

The report meeting was attended by about 20 people, including officials from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do, as well as experts from academia and industry. The meeting reviewed the final progress of the project and proceeded with comprehensive discussions.

The project "Establishment of a Plan to Revitalize Metropolitan Tourism in the Southeastern Region" aims to derive a common vision for the southeastern region, establish a roadmap for a metropolitan tourism system, and prepare strategies to serve as a foothold for mutual development through tourism.

This project established a sustainable 10-year plan from a long-term perspective and presented detailed implementation strategies. To derive revitalization plans for metropolitan tourism in the southeastern region based on domestic and international tourism status and trends, opinions from local government officials, experts, and over 2,700 potential tourists were analyzed.

The first detailed project is the media content course project (B.U.G. Zone).

The B.U.G. Zone incorporates elements of gamification into the process where general tourists visit and experience tourist sites, increasing interest and participation.

This can be described as a project that shares media information generated during this process.

The second project promotes the development of a historical, cultural, and leisure complex marine tourism site (ORA9) utilizing the common marine tourism resources of the southeastern region.

This project includes coastal cruises and yacht operations, the establishment of a community town system, and the discovery and development of themed beaches.

The final third project is the cultural tourism complex space regeneration (RE:) project.

This project aims to address the economic difficulties of the local community caused by the downturn in the shipbuilding industry, a common industrial base in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) region, through the theme of tourism.

It involves discovering idle facilities in the local community, including closed shipyards, as tourism content and transforming them into cultural tourism complex spaces.

Lee Sang-chan, chairman of the Southeastern Metropolitan Tourism Council and director of the Ulsan City Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau, evaluated, "Through this project, a foundation has been laid for the integrated development of the three cities and provinces in the southeastern region as a metropolitan tourism zone."

Professor Hong Jeong-hwa, who was in charge of the overall project and specializes in Hotel Management, said, "Through the revitalization of metropolitan tourism in the southeastern region, a foundation for balanced regional development will be established, and new connectivity between regions will be created, shaping the character of southeastern regional tourism."
