DL E&C Partners with Woowa Brothers to Introduce Delivery Robots

Agreement Signed for Delivery Robot Technology Demonstration and Service Model Development in Buildings
Service Expansion Planned Starting from D Tower Gwanghwamun

A coffee delivery service is being demonstrated using the delivery robot DeliTower at D Tower Gwanghwamun.

[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] DL E&C (formerly Daelim Industrial) and Woowa Brothers announced on the 14th that they have signed a business agreement to develop delivery robot technology and service models. DL E&C plans to pilot Woowa Brothers' delivery robots at D Tower Gwanghwamun as early as June to start delivery services. While verifying the technology and usability of the delivery robots, they plan to expand the scope of delivery robot utilization to residential and commercial facilities in the future.

At D Tower Gwanghwamun, the delivery robot ‘Deli Tower,’ capable of indoor autonomous driving and inter-floor movement, will be introduced. When ordering from stores located in D Tower Gwanghwamun through the Baedal Minjok application, the delivery robot will deliver food and beverages. Starting with cafes located in the basement, they plan to gradually expand participating stores to build the entire D Tower Gwanghwamun as a space where contactless delivery services are possible. Furthermore, based on this, they expect to expand autonomous driving robot-related services to various residential and commercial spaces.

Through this business agreement, DL E&C expects to secure various data such as the integration technology between robots and gates and elevators within buildings, as well as access routes. Using this data, they plan to develop building designs optimized for robot utilization and review various service models. In particular, they are focusing on robots as a solution to issues that have recently become social concerns, such as parcel delivery and delivery rider access within apartment complexes.

Jae-Hyun Na, Head of Engineering at DL E&C’s Housing Business Division, predicted that “With the advancement of autonomous driving technology, service robots will be rapidly introduced into residential, commercial, and office spaces,” adding, “Through the introduction of autonomous driving robot services, we will accelerate not only the development of buildings incorporating advanced technology but also related service development.”

Kim Yo-Seop, Head of the Robot Business Division at Woowa Brothers, said, “Robot delivery services are expected to enhance customer convenience in the untact era and create new delivery demand,” and added, “This collaboration will serve as an opportunity to prove and expand Woowa Brothers’ advanced delivery robot technology and service operation capabilities.”
