Although the global shipbuilding market has recovered and domestic large shipbuilders swept half of the world's ship orders in the first quarter of this year, it remains difficult for this to translate into a tangible economic recovery.
Workers at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding are still enduring unpaid rotational leave, and the sale process has not yet been completed.
In particular, due to the impact of COVID-19 last year, the local economy has fallen into recession, prompting demands for the extension of the Special Industrial Crisis Response Area designation.
Meanwhile, the decision on whether to extend the Special Industrial Crisis Response Area will be made after the Regional Industry Crisis Review Committee and consultations with relevant ministries on the 18th.
