[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] LG Household & Health Care announced on the 14th that it will operate the ‘Borrowed Earth Refill Station,’ which sells shampoo and body wash products by dispensing their contents into refill containers, at the Emart Jukjeon branch.
The ‘Borrowed Earth Refill Station’ is part of a campaign under the slogan “The Earth is not our possession but borrowed from future generations,” aimed at returning a beautiful and clean Earth to future generations. It allows consumers to reduce plastic use in daily life and directly participate in environmental protection.
The station operates by selecting representative products centered on consumer favorites, including the number one repurchased anti-hair loss shampoo ‘Dr. Groot’ and the premium body wash ‘Belmon.’
By using the refill station, consumers can purchase the desired amount of product contents, minimizing plastic usage. The containers used at the refill station are made from coconut shells, reducing plastic use by about 30% and are recyclable. The labels also apply a ‘water-separable label’ that easily separates during recycling, facilitating proper disposal.
The refill station space itself was created through upcycling. Disposable household product containers were recycled to produce and install the refill station tables. Additionally, it is designed as a ‘portable refill station’ with a cart design that allows free movement, enabling comfortable space utilization.
An LG Household & Health Care official said, “As consumers’ environmental awareness strengthens and the demand for refill products increases, we have partnered with Emart to operate the refill station. We plan to actively practice ESG management by providing new experiences and services so that consumers can practice eco-friendly value consumption in their daily lives.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Borrowed Earth Refill Station’ located at Emart Jukjeon’s ‘L.Heritage1947’ store is a curated store where customers can meet LG Household & Health Care’s differentiated premium brands. Customized cosmetic formulation managers are stationed to recommend suitable products and assist with refills.
