Pohang Mayor Lee Gang-deok's Communication Walk at 'Guryongpo 5-Day Market' for Public Welfare

Pohang Mayor Lee Gang-deok's Communication Walk at 'Guryongpo 5-Day Market' for Public Welfare Mayor Lee Gang-deok visiting the 5-day market at Guryongpo Market on the 13th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Pohang City announced on the 14th that Mayor Lee Kang-deok visited the Guryongpo Market 5-day market on the 13th to share opinions with citizens on the local economy and regional issues at the site of the people's livelihood.

Guryongpo Market has seen a steady increase in visitors, including locals and tourists, through the provision of an optimal shopping environment following the completion of the arcade installation project in 2019. The 5-day market held on the 3rd and 8th has received great response by operating a marketplace where elders from Nultaeri Village in Guryongpo-eup directly trade agricultural products with consumers.

Pohang City plans to complete a system construction project for early fire suppression targeting about 100 stores within the market through the installation of fire alarm facilities selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' public contest project by the end of this year.

Last year, in response to the paradigm shift of traditional markets in the non-face-to-face era due to COVID-19, the city introduced smart order technology to about 40 stores within the market through the smart pilot store project, establishing a mobile ordering and payment system.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok emphasized, "Guryongpo is a major fishing base on the East Coast and a marine tourist destination visited by many tourists. Through the active promotion of this specialized market development project, it will not only revitalize the commercial district but also transform into a tourism-stay type traditional market."
