Yongsan-gu, Free Training for Personal Protection Officer (Security Guard/Bodyguard) Certification

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjanghyun) is offering a free qualification course for personal protection officers (weekend class).

This is part of the district's public-private partnership job fund project.

The classes will be held twice a week (Saturday and Sunday) from August 28 to October 31, totaling 120 hours. Class hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the location is the 1st floor of Taeheung Hall at Asia Aviation Vocational School (37 Wonhyo-ro 97-gil).

The curriculum includes ▲Theory (private security theory, Security Business Act, security studies, etc.) for 39 hours ▲Practical training (criminal response techniques, arrest and escort techniques, security and personal protection, etc.) for 27 hours ▲Employment training (new security guard training, first aid, etc.) for 43 hours. A comprehensive test and mock evaluation will be held at the end of October.

Any unemployed resident under the age of 35 who wishes to work in personal protection or general security fields can participate. Applications are accepted at Asia Aviation Vocational School until August 20, and 20 students will be selected through document and interview screening.

Only in-person applications are accepted. The application desk is located on the 4th floor of Dongyang Hall at Asia Aviation Vocational School.

A district official said, “The personal protection officer certificate is a nationally recognized private qualification certified by the National Police Agency,” adding, “Demand in related fields such as airports, professional security companies, and special security companies is continuously increasing, making employment advantageous.”

The district will assist graduates in finding employment at security companies and will also issue certificates for completion of new security guard training.

The district's public-private partnership job fund project supports local job education institutions (corporations and non-profit organizations) with budgets (funds) to help residents find jobs or start businesses.

This year, Asia Aviation Vocational School, Yongsan Women's Human Resources Development Center, Korea Polytechnic University Seoul Jeongsu Campus, and Seoul Jungbu Technical Education Institute are collaborating with the district.

Seongjanghyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Our district has established and operates the largest job fund in the country with 12 billion KRW,” and added, “We will actively support young people through customized employment education and startup fund loans.”
