[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold a commemorative ceremony on the 14th at the Seoul City Hall Multipurpose Hall to celebrate the '7th Social Welfare Center Day.' This year marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Seoul Taehwa Women's Hall, the predecessor of the Taehwa Christian Social Welfare Center, in 1921.
Seoul selects 41 outstanding social welfare center employees who practice community care and awards them commendations. Reflecting on the century-long history of social welfare centers that have stood as community pillars alongside local residents during times of crisis since 1921, there will also be a screening of the video '100 Years of Seoul Social Welfare Centers!' to look forward to the next 100 years.
The commemorative events begin with a public promotion campaign involving 98 social welfare centers across Seoul starting on the 10th, followed by the Social Welfare Center Day ceremony on the 14th, an online ceremony on the 21st (featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the Social Welfare Center Day ceremony), and an online viewing event for the ceremony.
Kim Seon-soon, Director of Welfare Policy, said, “I sincerely congratulate the 7th anniversary of Seoul Social Welfare Center Day and the 100th anniversary of social welfare centers this year,” adding, “Seoul will join forces with social welfare center workers to ensure more thorough community care.”
