[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] The Democratic Party of Korea responded on the 13th to the National Assembly's approval of Prime Minister nominee Kim Boo-kyum's appointment consent bill by saying, "Now is the time to talk about the future."

Shin Hyun-young, the Democratic Party's floor spokesperson, stated in a briefing that afternoon, "We have taken a step forward toward the future of South Korea, overcoming COVID-19 and regaining vitality."

Addressing the People Power Party, Shin criticized, "The Democratic Party has been patient and waited. Despite the opposition party's obstinacy, we did everything possible to negotiate. We urged discussions through nine meetings, but the People Power Party's response was always 'unconditional opposition' and 'unconditional resistance.'"

She continued, "President Moon Jae-in will visit the United States next week. South Korea cannot afford to leave the Prime Minister's position vacant," and sharply criticized, "In this critical situation, the People Power Party has used the Prime Minister's approval as a tool for political strife."

She added, "Now is the time to talk about the future. The clock hands must start moving again," emphasizing, "Candidate Kim must devote all his efforts to filling the government vacancy as soon as possible and restoring daily life to the people who have endured difficult times due to COVID-19."
