599 New COVID-19 Cases as of 6 PM... 51 More Than Previous Day

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] On the 13th, new domestic COVID-19 cases continued to surge.


According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 13th, a total of 599 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide. This is an increase of 51 cases compared to 548 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.


Among them, 392 cases occurred in the metropolitan area, and 207 cases were reported in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, Seoul reported 213 cases, Gyeonggi 149, Gyeongbuk 34, Incheon 30, Jeonnam 28, Gyeongnam 22, Busan, Daejeon, and Gangwon each 21, Chungnam 19, Ulsan 15, Gwangju 8, Daegu 7, Jeonbuk 6, Chungbuk 3, and Jeju 2. Among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, Sejong reported no new confirmed cases.


When the count closes at midnight, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced at 0:00 on the 14th is expected to reach the 700s. On the previous day, 167 cases were added after 6 p.m., closing at a final count of 715 cases.


The daily average of locally transmitted confirmed cases, a key indicator for adjusting the 'social distancing' level, stands at 561 cases, which falls within the 2.5 level range (nationwide 400?500 cases or more).
