[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeonnam (Governor Kim San) announced on the 13th that it will implement the Domestic Kimchi Voluntary Labeling System to increase sales of domestic kimchi and protect consumers' right to know.
The Domestic Kimchi Voluntary Labeling System is a program that certifies restaurants and group meal service facilities that purchase or make kimchi using 100% domestic ingredients and serve it to customers as users of domestic kimchi.
The certification mark is issued through deliberation by the Domestic Kimchi Voluntary Labeling Committee, which consists of five private organizations, and the certification period is one year.
The county plans to create a safe dining environment through thorough post-management, including annual inspections of domestic kimchi usage and re-certification.
Governor Kim San said, "Recently, public outrage has risen over issues such as Chinese naked kimchi and the decision to discharge contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant, increasing residents' interest in safe food," adding, "We hope that the introduction of the certification system will expand the consumption of high-quality domestic kimchi."
