[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 13th that it will promote a village care community activation project to fill the gaps in care.
The village care community activation project is a specialized care area within the existing Women and Family Friendly Village Creation Contest project and is fully funded by the district.
It aims to fill the gaps in insufficient public care supply in preparation for increased care demand due to staggered elementary school attendance and online classes to prevent COVID-19 infection, as well as women's participation in economic activities.
After opening the contest in March, going through the first document screening and the second subsidy review committee screening, a total of four village care communities were selected and will officially start the project this month.
The four village care communities have long been active in child care within Gwangsan-gu.
Gwangsan-gu will dispatch care workers who applied for the ‘Our Neighborhood Child Gap Care Worker’ program, linked with the Gwangsan Citizen Allowance that provides income for social contribution activities, to each village community, supporting manpower and labor costs.
In December, when the project is completed, an analysis of the care project results will be conducted, and the most active community will be designated as the ‘Gwangsan Village Child Playground’ and developed as a specialized village care model of Gwangsan-gu.
A Gwangsan-gu official said, “The village care community contest project will provide employment opportunities through the citizen allowance for women with career interruptions and stable care for local children through village communities. We will make sure this first project becomes a more solid and detailed program.”
