SK Gas and SK Chemical Launch Blood Donation Campaign... Practicing ESG Management

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Gas announced on the 13th that it will conduct a group blood donation campaign together with its affiliates SK Chemical, SK Bioscience, SK Plasma, and SK D&D.

This campaign was planned to support the blood supply, which is facing difficulties in maintaining an adequate blood stock due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, to contribute to solving social issues, and to practice ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. In particular, the campaign gained more significance as all affiliates under SK Discovery agreed to jointly carry it out.

For smooth blood supply management, a nationwide stock of at least five days' worth of blood must be maintained. Less than five days is classified as the 'interest' stage, and less than three days is the 'caution' stage. As of the 13th, the blood stock is at 3.7 days, remaining in the 'interest' stage.

The blood donation campaign will be conducted nationwide, including Seongnam, Ulsan, Pyeongtaek, and Cheongju where SK Gas and SK Chemical are located, as well as Andong, where SK Bioscience and SK Plasma business sites are situated. Starting in May, the 2nd to 4th campaigns are planned for July, September, and November, respectively, to ensure the campaign continues beyond a one-time event.

An SK Gas official stated, "Due to COVID-19, the number of blood donors has gradually decreased, and we launched this blood donation campaign to help alleviate the national blood shortage and contribute to securing a stable blood supply." He added, "Through continuous blood donation campaigns, we will expand the social safety net and actively practice ESG management."
