36-Story Residential Complex and 29-Story Office Building Next to DMC Station... Multicultural Museum Also Moving In

[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Two residential buildings up to 36 stories and a 29-story office and cultural facility will be built on the Sampyo Energy site near Seoul Digital Media City (DMC) Station.

On the 13th, Seoul City announced that on the 12th, the Urban and Architectural Joint Committee approved with modifications the detailed development plan for Special Planning Zone 10 (Sampyo Energy Site) within the district unit plan area around Susaek and DMC Station.

The site is currently a development-available land used as an LPG filling station and warehouse site, located in the prime area of DMC Station where Subway Line 6, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, and Airport Railroad Line intersect. It is situated at the junction of Susaek-ro and Jeungsan-ro, making accessibility very convenient. The site area is approximately 8,570.4㎡.

According to this decision, the land use zone will change from second-class general residential and semi-residential areas to general commercial areas. Two residential buildings up to 36 stories, including 299 rental housing units, and a 29-story office building will be constructed. On floors 1 to 5 of the office building, a Multicultural Museum and a Multicultural Family Support Center will be donated. As part of the public contribution plan, the road along Susaek-ro will be widened.

The Multicultural Museum will be a complex cultural space where visitors can experience, learn, exhibit, research, promote, and view cultures from around the world. It will support multicultural families and also be designed so that local residents and tourists can easily access and understand diverse cultures. A rooftop observatory with views of Bukhansan Mountain and Bulgwangcheon Stream will be installed on the top floor of the office building and will be open to residents.

A Seoul City official said, "It will become a landmark at the entrance of Eunpyeong-gu, fitting for the northwest region's cultural and economic center," adding, "This mixed-use development for residential, office, commercial, and cultural purposes will contribute to housing stability, expansion of employment bases, and revitalization of the local commercial district."
