Uljin-gun Starts Crematorium Operation at Memorial Park... 'Cremation Incentive' Support Ends from June default

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Jeon Chan-geol) announced on the 12th that from June 1st, it will operate a crematorium within the county-run memorial park, a comprehensive funeral facility equipped with eco-friendly and state-of-the-art facilities.

Accordingly, the cremation subsidy system, which had been implemented to alleviate the burden of using cremation facilities located in other regions, will be discontinued from the same date.

Since 2013, Uljin-gun has invested 22.8 billion KRW to establish the first nature-friendly memorial park on the east coast of Gyeongbuk. The memorial park includes a crematorium (3 cremators), a columbarium (5,922 niches), a natural burial ground (6,092 plots), a family grave hill, an administration office, and parking lots.

The usage fee is 600,000 KRW for columbarium and 600,000 KRW for natural burial, based on individuals who have resided in Uljin-gun for more than six months from the date of death.

Jeon Chan-geol, Governor of Uljin-gun, emphasized the significance of the memorial park’s establishment, stating, "With the opening of the county-run memorial park’s crematorium, the time and economic burdens of residents who had been using facilities in other regions can be alleviated."
