Suncheon-si Increases Public Procurement of Social Economy Enterprise Products

Encouraging Public Officials to Purchase Products from Social Economy Enterprises

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 12th that it conducted public procurement training for city hall employees on the 10th to support the independence and growth of social economy enterprises.

This training was held with the participation of about 40 public officials in charge of projects and budgets, jointly hosted by Jeollanam-do and Suncheon City, to support the resolution of worsening management conditions and difficulties in securing sales channels for socially disadvantaged enterprises due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The training content was composed to help understand the necessity of public procurement of social economy enterprise products and to lead to actual purchases, including ▲basic concepts of social economy and the necessity of public procurement ▲how to use the public procurement online platform ▲recommendations for products and service items.

The city plans to conduct this training annually to spread the atmosphere of purchasing social economy enterprise products and to promote various products of the enterprises.

A city official said, “We hope this public procurement training will help companies pursuing social value realization overcome the difficult times caused by COVID-19 and grow.”
