According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 12th, five people tested positive for COVID-19 in diagnostic tests in the afternoon, bringing the total confirmed cases for the day to 21 as of 6 PM.
Cases 2557 and 2558 are classified as related to case 2431. They developed symptoms while in self-quarantine, underwent diagnostic testing, and were confirmed positive. Case 2431 was confirmed on the 2nd and the infection route has not been identified.
Case 2559 is related to a confirmed case from another city. This case was confirmed during a test before the end of self-quarantine, related to Anyang case 1535, which was confirmed on the 1st. It is known that Anyang case 1535 visited Gwangju around the 24th of last month and stayed at a family member’s house.
Cases 2560 and 2561 had contact with case 2544, who was confirmed earlier on the same day.
The quarantine authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations to identify movement paths and contacts of the confirmed cases.
