[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City, Jeonbuk announced on the 12th that Jirisan Cheoreom Agricultural Cooperative Corporation (CEO Jeong Jeongeun) has been certified as a social enterprise.
Designated as a preliminary social enterprise in 2019, Jirisan Cheoreom is an agricultural cooperative corporation that produces, processes, and distributes local agricultural products. The company produces edible oils, cosmetics, and inner beauty products using sesame and perilla seeds as raw materials.
Following the certification of the Forest Path Association at the end of last year, the social enterprise certification of Jirisan Cheoreom has expanded the number of certified social enterprises in Namwon City to a total of seven.
Certified social enterprises, which carry out business activities to improve the quality of life of local residents through expanding social services for the socially vulnerable, providing jobs, and contributing to the local community, receive support in finance, taxation, management, and sales channels.
This year, three companies in Namwon City plan to apply for social enterprise certification additionally.
Accordingly, the Job Economy Division’s Social Economy Team is conducting ‘Social Enterprise Certification Consulting’ to assist preliminary social enterprises in the area with the application preparation process, and at the same time, is consulting companies hoping to transition to preliminary social enterprises in the second half of the year on their transition preparation procedures.
Kim Jaeyeon, head of the Job Economy Division, said, “With the quantitative increase of social enterprises, which are one of the core actors in the social economy, we expect the social economy of Namwon City to be further revitalized.”
