[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is renovating the tree-lined street centered on the entrance road to the Cheese Theme Park to welcome visitors.
The county announced on the 12th that it invested 110 million won in the project to transplant the existing horse chestnut trees to the slope of the Imsil IC entrance road and newly plant 239 king cherry trees, creating a premium tree-lined street and a fine dust blocking forest together.
The king cherry tree, native to Korea, is the cherry tree species that produces the most flowers. It blooms in April, bears fruit in June, with pink flower buds that turn white when fully bloomed.
Belonging to the Rosales order and Rosaceae family, it is a deciduous broadleaf tree popular as a scenic and street tree for its beautiful flowers in spring and cool shade in summer. It is expected to offer new attractions to visitors to the Cheese Theme Park in the future.
The horse chestnut species, also known as Aesculus, previously planted, has a great effect on reducing fine dust and is one of the species recommended by the Korea Forest Service.
County Governor Sim Min said, “Street trees are important green elements that can be easily encountered in daily life, with excellent public functions such as landscape improvement and fine dust reduction,” adding, “We will continue to plant trees suitable for the characteristics of major roadsides to create a unique street environment in Imsil-gun and take the lead in providing pleasant and stable green spaces for living areas.”
