Genesis Unveils European Strategic Model 'G70 Shooting Brake'

Scheduled for release in the second half of this year: "Combining Dynamic Design and Practicality"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Genesis brand unveiled images of the 'G70 Shooting Brake,' its European strategic model to be launched in the second half of this year, on the 12th. The G70 Shooting Brake is the first model Genesis is introducing to position itself in the European market.

According to Genesis, the G70 Shooting Brake is a model that expands the trunk cargo space of the newly released The New G70 last year, enhancing practicality. It emphasizes dynamism within Genesis's design philosophy of 'the balance of dynamic elegance.' Inspired by hunting carriages, the shooting brake is favored in Europe for its sleek exterior and practical cargo space.

The G70 Shooting Brake shares the same dimensions as The New G70, with a length of 4685 mm, width of 1850 mm, height of 1400 mm, and wheelbase of 2835 mm, giving it coupe-like sleek proportions. It will be offered with two engine options: a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine and a 2.2-liter diesel engine, and is scheduled for release in the European market in the second half of this year.

The front features the 'Crest Grille,' inspired by the shield of the Genesis logo, positioned lower than the headlamps. The diagonally arranged dual-line quad lamps create a sense of speed and dynamism. The side profile is enhanced by a seamless side-rear integrated glass extending to the rear, adding a clean impression, while a floating-type spoiler designed with aerodynamics in mind delivers functional styling.

The rear trunk's hinge has been moved forward to maximize the opening area, making loading and unloading easier. Additionally, the rear quad lamps extend inside the trunk lid, creating a distinctive rear image.

The interior inherits the driver-centric layout of The New G70, reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit. Along with a trunk space 40% larger than The New G70, the second-row seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 split, allowing convenient loading of various sizes of cargo.

A Genesis official stated, "The G70 Shooting Brake combines the dynamic exterior reflecting the Genesis brand identity with the practicality of a shooting brake. It is a strategic model reflecting European market preferences, and we expect it to satisfy local customers."

Meanwhile, Genesis will begin sales across Europe starting this summer, beginning with Germany, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Contracts for the G80 and GV80 will commence in June, followed by sequential launches of the G70 and GV70. In the second half of the year, the strategic model G70 Shooting Brake will be released to strengthen the brand's presence.
