KOICA Builds New Health Center in Northern Vietnam Mountainous Area

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) announced on the 12th that it has newly constructed a modern health center in Vinloi, Son Duyen District, Tuyen Quang Province, a northern mountainous area, to improve medical infrastructure in Vietnam.

Tuyen Quang Province, located 170 km north of the capital Hanoi, is a mountainous region with poor transportation and impoverished residents, resulting in poor health and education infrastructure.

Since 2019, KOICA has been promoting the construction of the health center as part of its education, health, rural development, and women's projects in Tuyen Quang Province, investing $15 million.

The two-story building covers 675㎡ and is equipped with an emergency room, consultation rooms, inpatient rooms, delivery rooms, a health education room, and over 60 types of the latest medical equipment.

As a result, systematic primary healthcare services have become possible.

At the completion ceremony, Korean Ambassador Park No-wan said, "To support the development of Vietnam, a key partner country in the New Southern Policy, we will complete two additional health centers in Tuyen Quang Province by next year," adding, "We will also focus on improving infrastructure such as constructing six new schools, roads, and irrigation canals, as well as introducing regional development programs."
