Ministry of Unification Promotes 'Tongil Walking 2021' Project... "Strict Compliance with Quarantine Rules"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification announced on the 12th that it will promote the 'DMZ Peace Road Unification Walk 2021' project.

This project aims to build national consensus on the 'Korean Peninsula Peace Process' through an experiential program that involves walking directly in areas north of the Civilian Control Line (MinTongsun) and other regions.

This year's project will be conducted along long- and short-term routes from next month until November.

Next month, to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, a cross-country event from east to west will be held from the 15th to the 27th (12 nights and 13 days), from Goseong to Paju.

The Ministry of Unification stated, "Considering the COVID-19 situation, the event will primarily involve unification-related organizations and 60 to 70 participants from the 2030 generation, and later plans to expand the target audience to the general public."

Participation in the event is divided into full-course completion (13 days) and partial participation (7 days or 4 days). There is no separate fee for participating in the event.

The Ministry of Unification added, "Throughout the entire event, we will strictly adhere to COVID-19 prevention guidelines, including single-person accommodations, individual meals, frequent temperature checks, disinfection, and deployment of dedicated quarantine personnel, to carry out the project safely."
