[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Election Commission announced on the 12th that it held a suffrage education campaign for future voters, targeting elementary and middle school students, together with the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education on the 10th.
To commemorate the 10th annual Voter's Day this year, the Gwangju Election Commission and the Gwangju Office of Education decided to incorporate suffrage education into the curriculum of elementary and middle schools in the area to raise students' awareness of sovereignty and to remind them of the importance and meaning of elections. The education will be focused during Voter Week (10th to 14th).
The Election Commission, together with the educational theater troupe Parangsae, produced a creative puppet play video titled "Wise Voter," emphasizing the importance of election participation, allowing students to watch the puppet play remotely.
The Office of Education plans to distribute various learning materials to schools in the area to ensure smooth education in each class through collaboration.
Additionally, the Election Commission plans to include suffrage education in its own democratic citizenship education programs, such as the Youth Political Academy, Democracy Election Classroom at local children's centers, and training for multicultural families and voters with disabilities, conducting these programs throughout the year.
Furthermore, both organizations will continue to cooperate to firmly establish democratic citizenship education for future voters.
