[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on the 12th that it has signed a contract with Lotte Construction to supply equipment for the Daegu and Cheongju combined heat and power (CHP) plants. The contract amount is approximately 40 billion KRW.
These two projects will be constructed as combined heat and power plants using liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet the local energy demand and residents' demand for eco-friendly energy transition. CHP plants can simultaneously supply electricity and heat for district heating.
Through this supply contract, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction plans to supply one 120MW-class steam turbine and one generator each to the Daegu and Cheongju CHP plants by October 2022, while Lotte Construction will carry out the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) work.
Park Hongwook, Head of Power Service BG at Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, said, "It is even more meaningful as we succeeded in winning the order by surpassing overseas competitors through an international bidding process," adding, "We will contribute to the local community by supplying domestically produced equipment to domestic eco-friendly projects."
