Four Traditional Markets Including Seongdae Traditional Market Implement Non-Face-to-Face Shopping to Revitalize Local Economy... Same-Day Delivery by Professional Delivery Service for Purchases Over 20,000 Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is implementing a 'Traditional Market Delivery Service' to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
From May to December last year, the district provided a total of 2,895 delivery services to enhance residents' convenience in using traditional markets: 978 cases at Seongdae Traditional Market, 676 at Namseong Sagye Market, 1,135 at Sangdo Traditional Market, and 106 at Namseong Station Alley Market.
In particular, Seongdae Traditional Market combined its unique online platform 'Jangbom'?exclusive to our district?with the delivery service to enable contactless shopping.
By accessing the Jangbom system via smartphone, customers can order a variety of products such as meat, fish, vegetables, and manufactured goods. When selecting the desired product list, all items can be viewed at a glance regardless of the store.
This year, delivery services will continue at four locations: Seongdae Traditional Market, Namseong Sagye Market, Sangdo Traditional Market, and Namseong Station Alley Market.
While the district hired delivery personnel last year, starting this year, it will improve delivery service quality by signing agreements with private delivery companies.
If residents purchase items worth 20,000 KRW or more at traditional markets and request delivery at the store, same-day delivery is available. For orders over 20,000 KRW through Seongdae Traditional Market's 'Jangbom,' products can be received within two hours.
The district plans to conduct satisfaction surveys on the delivery service in the future to improve service quality, including delivery staff friendliness and safety, and will actively promote the service to encourage use by single-person households and younger customers.
Meanwhile, on the 13th from 2 PM for two hours, a YouTube live commerce event will be held at Seongdae Traditional Market.
Anyone interested in Dongjak-gu can access the Dongjak-gu Office YouTube channel to participate in various events held at five stores in Seongdae Traditional Market and purchase items such as dumplings, dried seafood, and seasonal fruits at affordable prices.
Kim Jeong-won, Director of the Economic Promotion Division, said, “We hope that implementing the traditional market delivery service will provide a boost to merchants struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We encourage many residents to use the service.”
