'Lee Jae-myung Faction' Lawmakers Join Nationwide Organization Launch... Including Hwang Seok-young, Yoo Myung-woo, and Various Figures


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] The nationwide organization 'Democratic Peace Plaza' is launching to secure the next presidential election victory for the Democratic Party of Korea. In addition to Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung, Democratic Party lawmakers, and political figures, about 15,000 founders from various fields, including writer Hwang Sok-yong, former professional boxing world champion Yoo Myung-woo, and whistleblower of the national corruption 'Tablet PC' case No Gwang-il, have participated.


The office of Democratic Party lawmaker Cho Jung-sik announced on the 11th that 'Democratic Peace Plaza,' co-chaired by Cho and former Minister of Unification Lee Jong-seok, will hold its launching ceremony on the 12th at Seoul Media Graduate School in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Governor Lee Jae-myung plans to reveal related ideas at the 'Youth Housing Basic Rights Realization Policy Talk Show' following the launching ceremony.


Lawmaker Cho said, "Democratic Peace Plaza will be the cornerstone for victory in the 20th presidential election and the reestablishment of the administration," adding, "We will play a role in ensuring the progressive camp's victory in the 20th presidential election by being competent and providing reformist and realistic answers to the spirit of the times." Cho is a five-term senior policy expert and is classified as part of the Lee Jae-myung faction.


After the launching ceremony, Democratic Peace Plaza plans to sequentially launch regional organizations by city and province through full-scale activities. The launching ceremony will be held as an online inaugural meeting with about 50 representatives of the founders attending, in accordance with social distancing guidelines.


Democratic Party lawmakers including Cho Jung-sik, Kim Sung-hwan, Kim Yoon-duk, Kang Jun-hyun, Moon Jung-bok, Min Hyung-bae, Park Sung-jun, Lee Dong-joo, Lee Soo-jin (Dongjak), Lee Soo-jin (Proportional), Lee Hae-sik, Lee Hyung-seok, Lim Oh-kyung, Jang Kyung-tae, Jeon Yong-gi, Jung Il-young, Choi Hye-young, Hong Jeong-min, former lawmakers Kim Hyun-kwon, Jung Eun-hye, Hong Mi-young, 22 local party chairpersons outside the National Assembly, and numerous local council members from cities and provinces are attending as founders.


In addition to former Minister of Unification Lee, former leader of the Together Citizens' Party Woo Hee-jong, writer Hwang Sok-yong, former Seoul Superintendent of Education Kwak No-hyun, former Army Armored Training Brigade Commander Choi Hwa-sik, former Busan Police Chief Lee Sang-sik, former Blue House Social Innovation Chief Ha Seung-chang, former Seoul Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs Kim Woo-young, Chairman of the Broadcasting Content Promotion Foundation Jung Sang-mo, Sewol Ferry Special Investigation Committee member Kwon Young-bin, Shinhan University President Kang Sung-jong, former professional boxing world champion Yoo Myung-woo, former national soccer player Lee Jung-soo, film director Cho Jung-rae, comedians No Jeong-ryeol and Seo Seung-man also participate. No Gwang-il, the 'Choi Soon-sil Tablet PC whistleblower,' is listed among the founders.


Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil, floor leader Yoon Ho-jung, former Minister of the Interior and Safety Heo Seong-gwan, and writer Hwang Sok-yong will congratulate the launch via video. The founders' meeting and talk show will be broadcast live on YouTube.
