Campaign to Foster Teacher Respect Culture, Sending Letters, Teacher Pride Contest
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Respect between teachers and students should be a year-round campaign, not just on Teachers' Day...
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seok-jun) is conducting a "Mutual Respect Movement between Teachers and Students" campaign to create a happy school culture for the entire educational community in celebration of the 40th Teachers' Day.
This movement is a city-wide campaign aimed at spreading an atmosphere of gratitude and respect for teachers, boosting teacher morale and pride, and restoring trust in education.
It is carried out in various ways, including the "Teacher Respect Relay (Thank You Video Letters for Teachers)," "Campaign to Foster a Culture of Respect for Teachers," "Dialogue between the Superintendent and Teachers," "Sending Letters and Messages Commemorating Teachers' Day," "Teacher Pride Contest," and the permanent operation of the "Let's Praise" corner.
The "Teacher Respect Relay" is conducted year-round by having students or parents create photos or videos expressing gratitude to respected teachers, upload them on personal SNS, and then nominate 1-2 next participants.
The "Campaign to Foster a Culture of Respect for Teachers" is a city-wide campaign to build a consensus on respecting teachers, promoting videos made from May to July that include various contents such as teachers' hard work and love for children.
The "Dialogue between the Superintendent and Teachers" will be held on the 12th at 4 p.m. at the Education Office annex, where Superintendent Kim Seok-jun invites teachers who conduct academic and life guidance at schools to have direct conversations, listen to difficulties in the school field, and deliver messages of respect and gratitude to teachers.
The "Sending Letters and Messages Commemorating Teachers' Day" on the 13th involves various methods such as sending text messages, making phone calls, and sending letters or emails of thanks and appreciation at schools of all levels to express respect for teachers.
Superintendent Kim Seok-jun will send a letter via internal mail to all staff on the 15th, ahead of Teachers' Day, congratulating them and encouraging their hard work.
The "Teacher Pride Contest" is an event from September to November where students and parents write stories of teachers' good deeds or touching experiences and send them by mail to the Education Office.
The "Let's Praise" corner is a section on the websites of the Education Support Office and schools of all levels where stories of teachers' good deeds or pride can be posted and operated year-round.
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to produce a book of outstanding works and distribute it to all schools and public libraries in the Busan area.
In September, recipients of the "Teacher of the Year Award" will be selected, and in December, recipients of the "Busan Education Award" and the "Korea Teacher Award" will be selected and awarded respectively.
Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, "I hope this will be an opportunity to reflect on respect for teachers and to practice their teachings," adding, "We will continue to create a social atmosphere where teachers' pride and honor are respected."
