[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] GC Green Cross Wellbeing is accelerating its health functional food business.
On the 11th, GC Green Cross Wellbeing announced that it signed a strategic business agreement for a new health functional food business with data-driven commerce company Next Player at its headquarters in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul on the 10th. Through this agreement, the two companies will collaborate in various fields ranging from product planning for launching a new health functional food brand to product development, production, and marketing. They plan to activate the full-scale cooperation system starting in the second half of this year.
GC Green Cross Wellbeing plans to closely cooperate with Next Player based on its know-how in manufacturing and selling health functional foods. A GC Green Cross Wellbeing official said, "We possess individually recognized functional ingredients developed in-house and have experience launching a specialized probiotic brand. Based on our specialized business capabilities in health functional foods, we will accelerate the new business."
Next Player is a commerce startup established in 2013. It owns various brands in the healthcare and inner beauty industries, such as Health Helper, targeting mainly young customers in their 20s and 30s. Based on over 2,000 campaigns conducted so far and accumulated customer data of about 2 million people, it plans to perform roles such as product planning and marketing aligned with the latest trends.
Kim Sang-hyun, CEO of GC Green Cross Wellbeing, said, "Through this cooperation, we plan to accelerate the expansion of the health functional food business in earnest," adding, "We expect great synergy to be created by combining the capabilities of both companies."
Park Seon-tae, CEO of Next Player, said, "Starting with this MOU, the two companies plan to explore various business collaborations in the health functional food sector."
