[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] Chinese company Xiaomi will launch a new wireless earphone with noise canceling function on the 13th.
IT specialized media PhoneArena reported on the 11th, citing Weibo, that the new wireless earphone scheduled to be released in the Chinese market this week is called the 'Xiaomi Noise Cancelling Headphones Pro.'
The released image shows a wireless earphone charging case with rounded corners. It resembles the Huawei FreeBuds 4i. The hinge part of the charging case displays Xiaomi branding, indicating a premium level in Xiaomi's wireless earphone lineup. The ear tips are similar to Apple AirPods Pro.
The new wireless earphones support noise canceling function that reduces external noise, allowing users to enjoy music and movies even in noisy places. However, PhoneArena reported that it is unclear whether it is active noise canceling or hybrid noise canceling. It is also known to provide touch controls and allow simple operations for answering and ending calls.
Details regarding specifications and price have not been disclosed. However, the industry expects Xiaomi to release it at an affordable price to compete with mid-range wireless earphones such as Realme.
According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, the wireless earphone market is expected to grow 33% from last year to reach 310 million units this year. In the global wireless earphone market last year, Apple ranked first with a 31% market share, followed by Xiaomi (9%) and Samsung Electronics (7%). With the recent increase in demand for mid-range wireless earphones, Xiaomi's market share is expected to expand this year.
