Visiting 14 Elementary Schools in the Area for Class-Based Career Exploration to Enhance Career Competencies... Providing Creative Future Talent Career Education Information with Lectures and Experience Kits from 15 Job Experts Including Exotic Animal Caretakers and VR Specialists
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) Career Experience Support Center is operating the elementary career experience program "Future Career Journey" for 14 elementary schools in the area from the 3rd of this month to July.
"Future Career Journey" is a program where professional workers, requested by each school, visit the classrooms to provide job introduction lectures and career experiences, increasing students' interest in careers and helping them understand various occupational groups.
This year, based on a preliminary demand survey by the Elementary Career Teachers' Council, the program is being operated for 1,162 fifth and sixth graders at 14 elementary schools including Haenghyeon Elementary and Yongdap Elementary, offering direct experience opportunities ranging from popular jobs such as special animal breeders and announcers to trending professions like VR experts and character designers.
Additionally, for each occupation, vivid mentoring and kit experiences covering 15 different jobs?including the work professionals do, required skills, and career advice?will enhance interest in careers and provide opportunities to explore jobs suited to students' aptitudes.
The district has attempted an in-depth and systematic approach by dividing elementary career exploration into career experience and aptitude tests. The career experience program, now in its fifth year, has been conducted for a total of 5,195 students through annual demand surveys up to last year.
Moreover, aptitude tests conducted by educational professional companies include learning strategy and career personality strength assessments, supporting career planning based on elementary students' creative thinking abilities and self-understanding.
The district also operates the middle school career club "Dream Comprehensive School" program within the region, providing combined online and offline job experience opportunities through public-academic cooperation, enabling continuous career exploration.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "The elementary school period is a crucial time for understanding aptitudes and careers through diverse experiences," adding, "We will continue to provide high-quality career experiences, strive to help elementary students in the area understand their aptitudes and form proper career values, and actively work to expand public education infrastructure to establish ourselves as an educational city."
