[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 10th, Kang Byung-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, introduced the "Act on Public Holidays," which legislates regulations related to public holidays.

The bill expands the current substitute holiday system, which applies only to Lunar New Year, Chuseok, and Children's Day, to all public holidays. It also guarantees substitute holidays for private sector workers who have weekdays off under their employment contracts when their holidays coincide with public holidays.

Rep. Kang said, "If the law is enacted, it will help achieve work-life balance and enhance productivity through the expression of high-quality knowledge and creativity, making a significant contribution to domestic industrial competitiveness and economic growth."
