National Asia Culture Center Website Hacked...Access Restored After 5 Hours

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The website of the National Asia Culture Center (Asia Culture Center) was hacked, prompting the relevant authorities to launch an investigation.

According to the Asia Culture Center on the 10th, the website was inaccessible for about five hours starting from 9 p.m. the previous day. The website screen turned white, and strange characters appeared on the screen. The website was restored around 2 a.m. that day and is currently accessible normally.

When the website was inaccessible, a message appeared saying, "Hello. We are hackers. If you want to negotiate, deposit 20 million (won) here. Otherwise, we will hack the entire site," along with a NongHyup bank account number and the recipient (company name).

The Asia Culture Center reported the hacking incident to the intelligence authorities. The police also became aware of the case and sent investigators to the Culture Center on the same day to ascertain the facts. After securing materials and conducting a preliminary investigation, if any suspicious points are found, they plan to start an investigation separately from the intelligence authorities' inquiry.
