[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that Seo Eun-ae, a three-term council member, was elected as the chairperson of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee to review the 2nd supplementary budget of 2021.
At the 1st plenary session of the 229th extraordinary meeting held on the 7th, the Budget and Accounts Special Committee was formed and resolved with seven members, including Seo Eun-ae, Park Seong-do, Lee Hyun-wook, Park Cheol-hong, Kim Si-jeong, Lim Gi-hyang, and Jeong Jae-uk.
At the first meeting of the Budget and Accounts Committee held thereafter, Seo was appointed as chairperson and Jeong as vice-chairperson.
The committee will review the budget over two days from the 12th to the 13th, and the budget review is expected to be finalized at the 2nd plenary session on the 14th.
The city submitted a budget proposal of 2.0682 trillion won, an increase of 411 billion won (24.80%) compared to the 1st supplementary budget, to the city council.
Chairperson Seo said, “We will do our best to ensure that budget reviews focus on cutting non-urgent expenses boldly to respond to COVID-19 and address the public sentiment of citizens.”
