The province announced on the 10th that it held a 2022 national budget securing progress report meeting worth 8 trillion won on the 10th to check the status of national budget securing activities.
Considering that, according to the government's budget formulation schedule, each ministry is to submit the 2022 budget to the Ministry of Economy and Finance by the end of this month, making this an important time for ministries to formulate their budgets, the meeting discussed problems and response strategies in depth.
So far, they have refined 137 new national fund requests worth 542.1 billion won and 119 ongoing projects worth 2.6464 trillion won that need to be prioritized for next year.
In addition, projects are divided into those to be reflected in mid- to long-term national plans, preliminary feasibility study targets, large-scale national projects, and research and development projects, and by preparing preliminary plans and carrying out administrative procedures, they are making every effort to open the era of an 8 trillion won national budget in 2022.
Major proposed projects for next year include ▲ upgrading to national roads and construction of national and national auxiliary roads ▲ phase 2 of the Honam High-Speed Railway and early establishment of the Gyeongjeon Line (Gwangju Songjeong~Suncheon) high-speed railway ▲ establishment of an ultra-high-power laser center ▲ construction of joint connection facilities for offshore wind power complexes ▲ establishment of an automated testbed at Gwangyang Port 'Container' pier, among others.
Also included are ▲ establishment of energy new material industrialization ▲ southern region wide-area tourism development project ▲ construction of the National Maritime Fisheries Museum ▲ creation of a specialized production complex for Baechu Kimchi ▲ establishment of a climate change response center in the agricultural sector.
These projects aim to lead regional balanced development through expansion of wide-area SOC and foster future-oriented new industries through the Blue Economy.
Yoon Byung-tae, Jeonnam Province Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, said, “Securing government budget requires knowing the budget formulation period, frequently visiting the relevant ministries, and actively understanding their concerns to win their hearts rather than insisting on one's own claims.”
He added, “A ‘Dasan Chwiseung (多算取勝)’ attitude, meaning those who prepare in advance win, is necessary,” and urged, “Please actively respond to ministry demands such as revising and supplementing planning reports to secure current projects and government R&D budgets.”
Meanwhile, at the Local Finance Council hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 12th, Governor Kim Young-rok is scheduled to directly propose key pending projects to be reflected in 2022.
They also plan to make all-out efforts including meetings with local lawmakers and interviews with ministers and vice ministers of central government ministries.
