[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] GreenPlus, the No.1 domestic company in greenhouses and smart farms, announced on the 10th that it has signed an exclusive license supply contract for smart farm-related technology with Australian smart farm company ‘Farm 4.0’.
The contract period is 10 years, until May 6, 2031. An additional 20-year extension is possible, allowing the contract to be maintained for up to 30 years. This contract was finalized with active support from the KOTRA headquarters and the KOTRA Melbourne Trade Center.
GreenPlus plans to start exporting smart farms to Western countries and actively expand into other overseas markets such as the Middle East. The company is currently conducting research projects for exporting smart farms to the UAE, including desert-type smart farm demonstration and localization, led by the Rural Development Administration. Since the UAE has a food self-sufficiency rate below 10% and relies mostly on European imports for agricultural products, the smart farm market there is expected to become larger than Australia’s in the future.
A GreenPlus official said, “Our technology was recognized in competition with global companies such as those from the Netherlands, leading to the signing of an exclusive license supply contract with Australian smart farm company ‘Farm 4.0’ for the Australia & New Zealand region. We are the first domestic company to export smart farms to Western countries, and based on this, we will also strive to enter other overseas markets such as the Middle East.”
GreenPlus achieved consolidated sales of approximately KRW 18.8 billion in the first quarter, a 55% increase compared to the same period last year. Sales in the smart farm business division grew 257% year-on-year, while sales in the aluminum extrusion and processing division increased by 17%. In the second half of the year, the company plans to continue its growth by actively attracting smart farms and smart aquaculture projects promoted by local governments.
